A Tomboy is when a girl exhibits characteristics or behaviors considered typical of a boy (i.e. wearing masculine clothing). The Tomboy look became extremely popular in the 90s with many female artists and groups such as Aaliyah, TLC, Xscape, Missy Elliot, Da Brat, etc. These trendsetters didn't feel the need to show all their skin to be successful. They used their clothes as a way to stand out against gender roles in the music industry.

Since they blazed the tomboy trail, this style has become super popular among women and celebrities alike. The style is not only easy to do, but it's uber comfortable as well.
